I went for a normal check up with my midwife, and they thought I had developed a blood clot on my lung, as I was getting chest pain. They realised at 37 weeks my baby had gone breech, I had protein in my pee and my blood pressure was through the roof.
I was sent up to the hospital (blakes maternity), where I was admitted for tests, including a lung scan, which came back clear. They decided that the pain in the chest was due to my baby being a complex breech. He had one leg up in front of his face pushed against my ribs, which showed on a scan I had. I was asked to see a consultant, who would try to turn my baby but he couldn’t attempt it, as cord was too close. I was asked to return back the following week for one last try and see if he would move himself. Unfortunately, my baby was just stubborn. Another attempt was made to turn him, but he didn’t want to move. I was booked in for a c-section that week.
I would like to say thank you to all the doctors, midwives, and theatre staffed involved. I was treated with great care and dignity and the anaesthetist was fantastic and took care of me all the way. I couldn’t have asked for better care. My baby arrived safely, weighing 7lb 5oz. The aftercare I received was also fantastic.
"Fantastic care during my difficult pregnancy and birth "
