"refusal of appointment"

About: Derriford Hospital / Neurology

having been passed from pillar to post seeing different GP's and being prescribed various medications after many, many test and scans i was delighted to finally get a referral to see a specialist who may actually have some idea of how to help cure me of the constant headache i have had for well over 6 months.

well what happen, apparently, not worth their time....refused and told to see my GP

guess another round of useless pills and extreme headaches, days on end in bed, more days of work missed more time with the family ruined and the continual fear of worsening illness

thanks Derriford Neurology

Jemima Williams, Service Line Admin Manager, has responded to say:

On behalf of the Neurology department we are sorry to hear about your experience, we can only assume that your referral to Neurology was triaged by one of our Neurology Consultants as part of our Advice and Guidance service and that your GP was therefore offered treatment suggestions to be trialled in the first instance prior to an appointment. If your symptoms have worsened or not resolved, your GP can re-refer you into our Neurology service. Should you wish us to investigate your concerns in more detail, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01752 439884. Alternatively, please email the team at: plh-tr.PALS@nhs.net
