I went to the strabismus clinic in May because I wanted surgery to correct a very obvious lazy eye. Since then, at every stage of dealing with the hospital I have been made to regret my decision to seek treatment. The staff were rude and disinterested, the admin was useless and I have not even had direct communication with a consultant. Even the toilets were overflowing! Rather than dignity and respect I have been treated with nothing short of contempt and indifference. So it appears my only approach is to hide the condition with sunglasses until I go private or abroad, which is simply incredible in the 21st century. The standard of treatment I have received reflects incredibly poorly on the professional conduct of the department and the hospital as a whole. From my experience, I actively recommend this hospital be avoided.
