"Derriford A&E"

About: Derriford Hospital / Accident and emergency

I avoid all hospitals if at all possible, but recently had an emergency that could not wait until the morning and needed urgent attention, so attended A&E at Derriford. After being triaged there was a long wait to be seen, nearly 4 hours, and once I was called into the treatment area, I could see why the delay was so long. Every bed and cubicle was occupied and the staff were rushed off their feet. Despite this, the doctors and nurses remained cheerful and friendly and did their best to put me at ease so they could treat me. I couldn't have wished for better treatment.

Iain Yearling, Matron for the Emergency Department, has responded to say:

Sorry to hear that you required our services and for the delay you experienced. We are glad that you felt at ease and that the nursing and medical staff remained cheerful in the face of adversity!

Regards
