"Reassured that we could take things hour by hour"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Gynaecology (Ward 32)

(as a carer),

My partner was recently admitted to ward 32 gynaecology at the RAH for a hysterectomy. My partner due to past difficulties was much more anxious than some other patients.

I cannot praise enough the admitting nurse who took the time to sit with us and reassure we could take things hour by hour in relation to myself remaining with my partner.

My partner was placed in a single room and I was allow as much flexibility with visiting and helping with her care as was needed.

A huge thanks to the staff who cared for me also e.g. Cups of tea. And also to the anaesthetist who put my partner at ease and theatre nurse who allowed me to be with my partner when she was highly distressed and vulnerable.

Thanks to all at ward 32.

Dear Taylor22

Many thanks for your kind words around the care and support given to you and your partner during what was an anxious time.

I will ensure that your experience and kind words are fed back to the staff in Ward 32 which will allow them to reflect on how patient centred care can make such a difference.

I hope your partner is well on the road to recovery.

Evelyn Frame

Chief Midwife
