I would like to say a big thank you to my surgeon, anaesthetist, anesthetic room staff & recovery staff for their professionalism, care & attention. They really showed what the NHS is about! The registrar & anaesthetist both spent time putting me at my ease & explaining the procedure & all staff were friendly and caring. I felt fortunate to have the procedure carried out there rather than in my local hospital. The Short Stay Surgical Unit appeared to be short staffed & post op care was not what I expected - unfortunately I asked twice for something to eat & no-one checked I had eaten it (which I hadn't), offered anything else or offered further pain control. Being an ex nurse I coped well post operatively, despite being in pain, but others may not.
