It is now several weeks since I had my operation for hip replacement. On the morning of my op I met Mr Ohly my surgeon who gave me an approximate time for for the operation. I was then shown to my room where I met several of the nursing staff. At about 1 pm I was taken down to the theatre where I was totally impressed by the staff who were all very busy and waiting for me. I was kept in continuous conversation to put me at ease.
The next thing I knew I was being asked how I felt and I was on my way back to my room after a brief stay in recovery. After a while Mr Ohly came to see me and said that everything had gone okay and that I would probably be able to go home the next day. I was then given a ham sandwich and a cup of tea at which point my family arrived amazed to see me sat up in bed eating. After a short rest dinner arrived at 5pm AMAZING three course soup, chicken pie and raspberry cheesecake, as good as any restaurant.
Next day Sunday, went with Physio team to go through aspects of walking on flat and stairs and other exercises, they were satisfied and signed me off. My family arrived in the late afternoon to take me home.
I have never looked back. Many thanks to Mr Ohly and all the staff involved in the operation, all the nurses were wonderful. Special thanks to Carrie as she was fantastic, she really did help to organise my trip home, lovely lady. I have gone from 2 sticks to 1 to none at all, walking great, supermarket shopping back on together with walks with my dog. Can’t wait for golf in 2 months time. Well done Golden Jubilee Hospital
