About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham / General surgery

(as the patient),

I am frustrated that I cannot get in contact with my surgeons secretary or the waiting list clerk regarding my impending back surgery. At the end of February I was told I was halfway down a list of 23 people waiting but there was uncertainty as to who was actually going to perform my surgery because one of the surgeons took a Sabbatical break from the end of March. Since then I have been unable to get the waiting list clerk or the secretary, I have rung at various times of the day, left phone messages and an email with negative results. What do I have to do to get some attention from someone at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham. I am a full time carer for my elderly mother saving thousands of pounds for the Government and NHS but when it comes to me getting treatment it seems I’m to be left behind.

Update posted by Catlady (the patient)

I have now managed to speak to a neurosurgery secretary who filled me in on what is happening regarding my surgery. I am dismayed to find out I still have to wait another 2/3 months for my operation which will make it 8/9 months wait altogether since referral something I’m not very happy about. However at least I spoke to someone at the Queen Elizabeth hospital.
