"My elderly mum with dementia"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital / General surgery

(as a relative),

My 94 year Mum who has dementia was booked into the Boothroyd Centre Dewsbury District Hospital for a minor op for a suspected skin cancer. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who took our details then showed us the way to the waiting room.

After a couple of minutes the nurse practitioner showed us into another room where we were met by the Consultant. My mum was taken for the procedure by the nurse practitioner and another nurse who could not do enough for my Mum they were so lovely. Our appointment was at 9.30 and at 10am we were sat waiting for a taxi home. I cannot thank all the staff enough for all their care and attention that they gave to Mum, my sister and myself.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience.

I can only imagine how anxious you both must have been feeling as coming into hospital can be daunting for anyone.

However, I am pleased to read that all staff that were involved in your mother's care treated her with care and compassion.

I will share your lovely comments with the staff as they will be thrilled to know what a positive impact they had on all of your experience.

Thank you again.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn
