"I would recommend St Andrews but I have some suggestions"

About: CAMHS Developmental Disorder (Northampton) / Acorn

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I would recommend St Andrew's but what you could do better is change rooms, the duvets are made out of leather/plastic which makes you sweat.

I can't use a razor even though I have never self-harmed but they allow me to use an iron.

The food is a problem. The people that eat Halal have to eat microwave meals, that's the same for people that eat rice and stuff. The food is standard and it gets boring eating the same food every day.

At night-time and in the morning I'm quiet but there is lots of banging but I think some staff are scared of the patients and asking them to stop banging. The patients that make a lot of noise should be on a different ward.

If you miss a meal then you have missed it for the rest of the day - you are only offered a bit of fruit and some water.

Otherwise it's good education wise. It's good at helping people and making them better and helping them to understand and stuff.

Acorn have now sourced other quilts that meet H&S and fire regulations

Individual care plans now available for the use of a hand razor if individually risk assessed.

Head Chef has visited the ward to discuss Halal meals and is trialling new menu on Acorn

Acorn are running a 2 meal sitting to accommodate varying meal availability

Response from Mark Wright, Catering Manager:

If you would like to suggest some dishes which you would like to see on the menu we are happy to utilise your views in menu planning. Myself (Patient Services Catering Manager) or Kevin the Head Chef on Fitzroy house would be more than happy to meet with you to discuss your needs further.
