I had to attend a short stay unit at my local hospital to have a prostate biopsy. Like most, if not all medical procedures, I wasn't particularly looking forward to it, particularly because I wanted a local anaesthetic, rather than a general one, so I knew I wouldn't be asleep while it was happening.
All the staff I met behaved professionally and appeared skilled and knowledgeable, which was reassuring. More notably, for me, they were unfailingly kind, courteous, patient, friendly and helpful. At every stage I was told what was happening and all my questions were fully answered. I felt that I was being treated with great care and consideration and that they were committed to supporting me as an individual through a potentially stressful visit.
