"Feelling left to suffer"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / General Medicine

(as the patient),

well 7 months months now since my nightmare began 2 wrong diagnosises and finally i know whats been causing the worst experience of my life,i even had to go private and pay for tests in total desperation as sitting around feeling forgotten about and my symptoms not seeming to be of concern to anyone but myself and my family i just couldnt take anymore.i had to wait weeks before i finally saw a neurologist who told me what i had was basilar migraine,iv suffered migraine all my life but nothing like this and never those symptoms so no labyrinthitis as i was told and no menieres disease as i was also told,i cant believe the lack of support i feel i received and how i was left alone with my children to cope with this, vertigo, atixia, nystagmus, dull hearing, vomiting, loosing 2 stone, not being able to see properly, not to mention the worst pain iv ever felt in my life 24 hours a day for months and what it does to your head i cant even describe,it has been the most terrifieing thing in my life and am so very bitter i was left like that for so long.am still in pain but at least i know why and now i have medication to try and help but its taken 7 months.i dont think i will ever trust nhs again in my life after what iv been through.

I can see you shared your experience on Patient Opinion some time ago. I am sorry that your experience was not a positive one. I can see you were having a distressing and frustrating time with your health. I sincerely hope that life has improved for you in the 3 months since you posted your story on Patient Opinion.

We have only recently started working with Patient Opinion so please accept our apologies in not getting back to you at the time. If you have any further feedback about the experience you desciribed please get in touch.

We are keen to listen to stories of patients and carers and, going forward, we plan to respond quickly to all stories we are alerted to from now on.

Best wishes
