What I liked
The care I received in the maternity ward was outstanding. Every single member of staff from the cleaners to the midwives and the ladies who take your dinner order that I came in contact with went (what I feel) was above and beyond their job role. The feeling they gave me was like I was the only woman that had ever given birth at Epsom Hospital.
Following my birth I had to have a small procedure (which I was a little nervous about). A midwife came with me held my hand throughout and explained everything that was happening which made me feel at ease. The anithetist came up to the recovery ward after her shift to see if I was feeling ok!
I felt fully supported by the midwives who came to check on me and my newborn and they seemed to care so much. Nothing was too much bother for them and they went out of their way to make you feel a ease.
They kept reminding me that if I needed anything just to buzz!
I can't have asked for a better place to bring my son into the world and all of the people who came into contact with me during my time in the maternity suite made it a truly memorable experience.
What could be improved
More birth pools. I hope to have my next baby at Epsom hospital and would be desperate for a birth pool again however as there is only one at Epsom I would worry that it wouldn't be available for my next one.
