What I liked
The Newborn Intensive Care Unit was my sons (and subsequently our) home for just over 3 months. The care that we all received was second to none at this pure centre of excellence. We were treated as part of the team and were always encouraged to be 'hands on' in my sons care. All staff were sensitive to our needs and really did care. The consultants, doctors and nurses were all on hand giving us constant, honest updates and were more than approachable. The work that is carried out there on a daily basis is outstanding and we will be eternally grateful for the fact that my son, born at 24 weeks, is now home and happy and healthy. A real miracle that without the superb treatment he received would not be with us now. If I am honest words will never do justice the experience we had and the sheer professionalism and expertise we encountered. We are simply thankful for everything that has been done for us by an amazing staff on an amazing unit!
What could be improved
Nothing, other than I believe the unit should be given even more funding to enable constant state of the art care and equipment for more babies. More funding would allow for more procedures to be accessible on the unit itself too, making lives of the babies and staff even more efficient.
Anything else?
I will never find the words to thank the NICU for all that they have done for us. Such amazing care off some wonderful people! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this unit to anyone!
