"My husband has terminal lung cancer"

About: Dewsbury & District Hospital

He has been attending the oncology out patients every 3 weeks to see the oncologist who we must say are really good as are all the staff at the yellow desk and clinic. His last 2 appointments we have had to ring up about as none was received and he cannot have his treatment without seeing the oncologist ,we have now been informed after spending quite a long time trying to get through on the phone his appointment will be at Pinderfields which is over an hours travel Dewsbury District is 8 minutes away from home,it's stressful enough coping with this disease without long bus journeys needless to say he is not too pleased.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience.

It is lovely to read how staff have been really good towards yourself and your husband however, I am disappointed to read that you have had to telephone the service a couple of times to check on appointments.

I also fully appreciate how stressful it is knowing the service will be moving to Pinderfields Hospital which will cause you a considerable amount of traveling time.

I wonder if you would mind contacting our Patient Liaison Advice Service who might be able to help or provide some advice on the service moving across to Pinderfields.

If so, their contact details are 01924 542972 or via email on myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.net.

Thank you again.

Kind regards

Clare Blackburn

(Patient Liaison Improvement Lead)
