What I liked
I was in for a colonoscopy in the endoscopy dept on the lower ground floor.
The procedure was to painful with much too little pain management.
During the procedure the two nurses were standing leaning against a surface behind me while I lay there exposed with pipes being pushed deaper inside me by the doctors. The two nurses were facing my backside having a conversation about a party they went too. I felt humiliated by having 2 female nurses behind my naked backside watching the pipes being prodded around doing nothing other than discuss a party.
There was also a senior staff nurse in recovery who ignored me when I asked her about this.
I also noticed the privacy for changing pre procedure is really bad
Besides for this overall the staff & place is really nice but these bad experiances let the whole department down.
What could be improved
when someone is lying naked & awake on a operating table staff of the oposite sex should not be standing there "lounging about" discussing parties 1 foot away!
No food is offered after the procedure which required me fasting for 30 hours prior to the treatment.
The senior staff nurse in recovery needs to learn a lesson from the other nice nurses who work in recovery, they are all much nicer.
Other than the nurses who were insensative during the procedure & this nurse everyone else was really nice. Its a pity a few people can ruin an impression so easily
Anything else?
be aware the procedure takes hours with delays of up to 3 hours. they dont tell you that when you get the booking
"very humiliating, ruined by the actions of 3..."
