What I liked
I visited Burnley general Hospital urgent care around about the 7th October, a plate inserted in my leg to repair a break had failed, I was x-rayed and an appointment was made for me to be seen in the fracture clinic the following week, where I was told a CT scan would be required, it was three weeks before the scan was done. I heard nothing from the Hospital so rang the consultant’s secretary and was told that a second opinion was required and they would be writing to a Consultant in a Manchester Hospital. At the beginning of December I again rang the Consultants secretary and was told that the letter had been written and was on her desk waiting to be signed!, I rang the Manchester Hospital to-day 6th Jan and was told they received the letter on the 22nd Dec and an appointment had been made for me on the 31st of Jan. So it took over three months for Burnley general Hospital to arrange a scan and write a letter, it will be four and a half months before I see the Consultant in Manchester and during this time I have been hobbling round on a broken leg, not sleeping because of the pain, pretty much housebound, and stuck in a chair. I have had scheduled admittance to Burnley and Blackburn Hospitals in the past and the treatment I received was second to none, I hope this, what I consider an appalling lack of urgency is a “one off” and not the norm when you visit urgent care at Burnley.
"I think it unacceptable when you have a broken leg..."
