What I liked
Being sent to a children's waiting area
What could be improved
There was a serious lack of urgency from hospital staff whom seemed only to be doing paper work. When asked when my 3 month old daughter would b seen they responded with 10 minutes. 50 minutes later we were finally called into triage after standing in an over crowded waiting area that was unclean and cold. In triage they did not have the appropriate equipment to do my child's observations and the equipment was uncomfortable for my daughter as it was made for the use of adults! We were then informed that our daughter would be made priority and was asked to go to the baby waiting area. The waiting area was unclean and over heated. After been told we would have an hour and half wait from arrival we were still waiting to see a doctor nearly three hours later. When asked how many people were before our daughter we were told 1 but this was not the Case as wen we asked a different member of staff we were told another 2-3 hours and our baby of 3 months was not a priority.
Anything else?
The hospital staff were not able to provide feeding facilities even when our wait would b over 5 hours long. The waiting areas were full if dick children eh were waiting to b seen. Those who had been seen were made to wait a long time in a cubicle whilst doctors did paper work. I strongly believe that children and babies should be seen as soon as possible by qualified and patient staff. Furthermore the waiting areas should be clean to prevent further illness taking place and appropriate equipment should be readily available !
Making a baby of three months wait for over five hours is ridicules and needs addressing !
