"Disgraceful experience with nurses in A & E"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

My relative was referred to this A & E from the GP urgent out of hours service. They were told to check in at A & E reception and tell them that the on call consultant was expecting them. They also suffer with anxiety and I was very shocked at the behaviour of so- called "professional" nurses, in their treatment of my very ill relative, which was disgraceful. They completely ignored the information my relative was trying to tell them as to why they were there and seemed to enjoy watching them becoming more distressed and exasperated. After an hour or so of watching my relative in agony and crying in the waiting room, a nurse called us in to tell us to go over to the ward to see the consultant as they were expecting them! I asked why it had taken over an hour to communicate this information to them, but the nurse had no answer. I have accompanied many relatives to Sunderland A & E over the years but I have never seen anything like this before.
