What I liked
Hi I had my baby son on the 31st of august 2011 with a planned c/sec due to the complications my 1st child & I had to go through in 2006 at Northwick park hospital. I must say that from day 1 my husband & I were really impressed with the level of care we received compared to northwick park hospital where I had my 1st baby which was really poor & horrendous at times throughout anti-natal, delivery & post natal.
I must say that staff at the Delivery suite in Watford general was exceptional!!, not only the Dr in charge but my midwife & the rest of the team were really good.
But must say that post natal was not that great mainly due to lack of staff available in a shift. As I needed support mainly at night, with picking up baby & feeding it was impossible for them to provide as there were too many moms to be looked after at the same time. Hence it was extremely difficult for me to handle the nights. Also not all the midwives were being nice and caring.
But overall I'm really satisfied with the care I received during my 4 days stay in the hospital.
What could be improved
Definitely the post natal care needs more staff as u hardly see ur midwife after the regular check up times. Also they need to improve the level of care a bit more to keep up with anti natal and delivery staff.
I strongly think the trust should consider allowing the birthing partner to be with the mom for the 1st two days at least as the wards are always short of staff and specially after a c/section it's impossible to move about.
"Overall I'm happy with my experience"
