What I liked
when i had my second child in 2007 i had an agency nurse on labour ward who was lovely and caring and stayed with me for the entire time i was in labour as my daughter decided to come faster than anticipated! the care was excellent with her. The sonographers with both of these have been great! i lost my first child in 2006 at twenty weeks do had the consultant sonographers! they really put my mind at ease and were very thorough!
What could be improved
With my third child the care wasnt as great, the birth was very quick, i had my son within 45 minutes of arriving, when my son was born he was whisked away without explanation and returned a few minutes later perfect. upon reading his notes we later found out that he had had the chord wrapped around his neck and hadnt been breathing. following this my stitches were done by an unsupervised student midwife which would have been ok had they not had to be completly removed and redone by a qualified midwife! this process took in excess of 3 hours as the ward was short staffed, my new born son was left for all this time just wrapped in a towel, unwashed weighed etc! the after care following this was however better and the photographers are great the next morning tp capture their first pics.
"great sonographers and labour ward! broadlands..."
