i spent 15 months having treatment for depression with a mental health nurse and i have got to say she was fantastic.
She helped me through a terrible period in my life, she was at the end of a phone for me, she encouraged me to take control of my life again, helped me to get some dignity and self esteem back. i believe she actually saved my life, because when i first went to see her i had taken 2 over doses and did not want to carry on.
Though i still have difficult times and bad days and i feel i will always suffer with my depression, she has taught me how to cope the best i can.
i miss her invaluable advice and help and am finding it difficult without her input - that's how good she was. she is a credit to the NHS.
The only thing i will say is that i was referred earlier that year to a junior mental health nurse and after 4 visits she discharged me and i was in no condition to cope - so i do think due to the finances within the health service sometimes they're too quick to discharge people only to end up back like i did.
"excellent service "
