I attended early for an orphopaedic appointment in Feb'18 and sat waiting for 30 minutes past the time. Eventually a man called my name (wrong). Others calling people couldn't be heard as they stood calling too quietly in doorways or nowhere near where people were seated. I corrected him as he'd decided my name had an 'O' in front. But after repeating myself 3 times another patient said it correctly to him as well. After moving to be seated again in the corridor, the man asked to see my appointment letter to read the correct name spelling and said my file/notes could not be found but I would be seen by a doctor. Later, I was told my file/notes were found, obviously due to the correct name spelling being used. And my x ray used for my doctor's appointment.
If the reception staff use the appointment letter to book people in when they arrive, this issue of lost files/notes would be resolved.
I didn't see the doctor I was booked to I assume because of the time wasted over the name wrongly spelt and wrong missing notes. However The doctor I was seen by was really polite and wasted no time. In all really efficient. Two weeks later and I am waiting for an appointment for an operation date and pre op assessment date. Just little things corrected would help patients especially in the waiting area where no one can hear people being called because of the reception queue running down the middle of the room.
