"vascular care"

About: Royal Blackburn Hospital

I have just returned home from having a large operation at Blackburn Royal Hospital and feel that I must comment on the care given to me over a period of the eight days I spent in hospital,in November I was referred from the physiotherapy dept at clitheroe for an MRI scan which revealed an aortic aneurysm which resulted in a ct scan ,the outcome being that surgery would be required. Having been nearly 50 years since I had to use a hospital bed and having read only negative things about the NHS was unsure what to expect .HOW WRONG I don't know about the politics but I cannot praise the treatment that I received enough ,as you would expect from major surgery I was transferred to critical care ,later that night I required a second visit to the theatre after people were called in from their homes later spending two days in critical care where the care must be second to none .After being transferred to ward ward 20 where once again the care from all the staff from the surgeons down to the house keeping gave caring dignified care . all this service cost me nothing HOW MANY countries have this we have a wonderful service that should be praised more and look for the positives instead of only the negatives.WELL DONE NHS.

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent stay over a period of 8 days at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital following major surgery for an aortic aneurysm.

It is lovely to receive such positive feedback regarding the care and treatment you received during your stay on ward B20 and critical care and we are delighted to pass this on to the staff who will very much appreciate your comments as they always strive to deliver safe, personal & effective care.

If you would like to provide us with further information about your experience then we would really value this so that we can try to make it like this for every patient visiting our hospitals and using our services.

You can either contact me (Sarah Ridehalgh) on 01254 734471 or by email at patientexperience@elht.nhs.uk.

Thank you again for commenting and best wishes for continued recovery.
