I visited the postnatal clinic today after being discharged from a hospital out the area.
On discharge I was told that the staff had spoke to maternity at Wolverhampton and was adviseda midwife will visit at home, then at 1:15 the next day my partner received a txt message saying can I take the baby to the clinic at 2!! No attempt was made to call me, this was the contact number given. And to ask 45 min before to bring a baby in and out in the cold after spending a week in hospital after birth due to infenction is disgraceful. The midwife that I dealt with us was lovely but then it went downhill. After my appointment I was in the waiting room feeding my baby when a midwife started commenting to other people about the way I was holding my baby to feed. They then came up stood in front of me said very loudly and abruptly we don't like you holiding your baby like that to feed should be holding them different. This was said in front of the patients who they were about to see and a room full of people. I burst out crying I was so humiliated. What the midwife didn't know was that the way I was holding my baby was shown to me by neonatal doctors after my baby was refusing to feed when held to close and I was advised to continue to do this. I'm sure A doctor I'm sure is more qualified to give advice then them. The approach was all wrong if they would of asked I would of explained there was not only a reason for it but there is absolutely nothing wrong with what I was doing.
During my pregnancy I have been under both Wolverhampton for community care and under Telford and Shropshire for birth. The contrast in care is vast! Have nothing but praise Telford midwives.
Only glad I never give birth here as if this what outpatient like dread to think what in patient like.
"Disgusting standard of care and staff attitude"
