I took a stroke whilst in Wakefield on business in October. I was dealt with quickly and efficiently by the paramedics who arrived, and transported to the hospital to be met by a specialist stroke nurse who then stayed with me and arranged my treatment over the next few hours. I was subsequently transferred to the Stroke unit where my care for the next week was absolutely fantastic. I found ALL the staff to be highly motivated, organised and professional. I should add that my family, who arrived en mass from Scotland quite late in the evening were also impressed by the hospitality of the senior staff, meeting them when they arrived and allowing them a late night visit which undoubtedly comforted both them and me at a very worrying time. I remained in the unit for 1 week before the hospital arranged for me to be transferred back to Scotland, but this was long enough to recognise that the care and rehabilitation I received was absolutely outstanding. So I hope you will pass on my huge thanks to everyone involved with that unit.
