"Extremely helpful and supportive nurse"

About: Torbay Hospital / General surgery

(as a service user),

Extremely helpful and supportive and caring nurse who has redeemed some of the worst experiences I've had by her sympathetic manner and professionalism.

After I've had some very bad experiences in hospital I've had a dread of going back into hospital. But I've needed to arrange for an overnight stay because of a procedure, I need but I dread. And when I went in for the pre-op assessment I was terrified and on the verge of giving up on the whole thing! But the care I received from the nurses in gynaecology was outstanding. sister Elaine went through all the details of the pre-op and heard my fears with outstanding compassion and professionalism!

I couldn't commend her highly enough as a nurse! And having worked in hospitals I have met some brilliant nurses in the past. And also with outpatients as a patient.

But my experiences with inpatient care I have been truly dreadful hence my anxiety was enormous. I still don't know what it will be like to stay overnight but I feel a lot more confident because of this nurse and her efforts to reassure me and take into account my previous difficult experiences, physical and mental health needs! It really does make a difference when people care!

Dear Patient

Thank you for taking the time to comment.

It is always good to receive feedback; we try to ensure we share examples of good practice and also that we learn from any negative experiences.

Kind regards
