I was diagnosed with FAP, Desmoid disease. Without too much detail, I developed tumours and polyps which can turn cancerous.
I thought one day everything ok, then bang, had to have my bowel removed. I have started to, after 2 years, learn to live a normal a life as I can but over the last couple of months seem to struggle. A DNA test was done to see if my son and daughter had the gene passed on and results came back that only my daughter was affected.
When we took advice from Clinical Genetics in Alder Hey we were so glad of the help and advice that we were given. She is now 18 and studying at the Liverpool university as a radiographer in the hope of helping other people.
