I have had seven now eight operations on my left knee, the final one last Thursday. I saw the consultant last year and they recommended a TKR plus removal of metal. The treatment I have received from out patients onwards has been exemplary. The consultant's secretary was brilliant when I kept phoning them with queries, the waiting list department helped me tremendously also.
I had my operation last Thursday 10th August firstly the admissions staff were great they kept everyone calm whilst waiting to go to theatre, The consultant performed my surgery, explained what would happen and what their plans were for surgery, The recovery staff were excellent and then I went to ward B, the ward is an amazing example of an orthopaedic ward. The staff were so hard working, compassionate, caring nothing was too much trouble. It was an extremely busy ward and the staff hardly had a moment even over the weekend, where the ward manager had come in early to get on top of the work. They are a total credit to the hospital, in my opinion the ward was too busy for the number of staff and the amount of patients they had to look after. Patients who initially cannot walk or do much for themselves. I would like to say a huge huge thank you to the consultants and all the staff in their team and a massive thankyou to all the staff on Ward B, not forgetting physiotherapists, pharmacists, the housekeeping staff, catering staff, porters and anyone else I have forgotten. Wrightington is second to none for orthopaedic surgery !!
