What I liked
i have been a patient at princess ann four times and will again shortly, my first experience was as a 17 yr old mum where i had no continuity to care, two different midwives during labour (i was new to area) was told that i didnt need to push, told to be quiet and that my pain wasn't that bad, i was also given pain relief too close to delivery for it to take effect. thankfully this was a one off and the following two children i had was with a fantastic midwife who made me feel safe and confident to birth. i also became a patient after my first child for a late miscarraige where i was left in a waiting room while i passed baby, this is something that i havent forgotten, although after this i found staff very sympathetic and comforting. i wouldnt recommend the hospital for giving birth but would recommend the midwife i had for second and third child.
What could be improved
no women experiencing a possible loss should be left unattended or "waiting".
all women should be reinformed on pain relief side effects at time of administration.continuous care during labour with respectful staff, each person has a different pain threshold, this should be remembered.
