"Antenatal ward"

About: Royal Oldham Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Booked in for induction, very long wait due to labour ward being busy (only 7 Midwives when I am told there should be 12) Midwives helpful and friendly although appear very overstretched and understaffed.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments about our Antenatal Ward. It is good to hear that you found our midwives helpful and friendly. However, we are sorry that you had such a wait for your labour to be induced and that the ward was very busy during this time. In September 2016 we introduced the “Saving Babies Lives” pathway, in association with the Perinatal Institute, this is aimed at reducing stillbirths. Like many other hospitals who have adopted this we have experienced a rise in our induction rates and we are working hard to match the service to the demand. We are reviewing the number of women waiting for induction each day and ensuring that the service is provided safely and effectively. In addition the senior team are reviewing what can be done to reduce waits and provide an effective service going forward.
