I was left sat in A&E after being sent back by my GP. I had been discharged earlier that day after having been given morphine hours earlier, which had made my pain manageable (no surprise there). Once that had worn off I was unable to sit straight so after seeing my GP I was sent back to A&E after they had discussed my case with an A&E consultant. After waiting in the main waiting area, in incredible pain (worse than giving birth) and vomiting I saw a staff nurse. I gave the nurse the letter from my GP detailing the conversation they had had with the A&E consultant. The nurse was dismissive of this and my own statements regarding my symptoms. Admittedly the nurse was correct in saying I had a temperature and needed to cool down, take my jacket off etc but that was as far as they went regarding my symptoms and even then I feel they were quite aggressive in their tone. After around 20 minutes they took the letter to the A&E consultant, after which I was admitted to A&E. It turned out that my symptoms were severe enough to have been life threatening if I had waited another 24 hours. As it was I had an operation and can't fault the staff on the wards but my experience of A&E was worrying.
