Following a RTC in April, whereby I had a CT scan, a tumour was discovered incidentally on my right kidney. Within three weeks of the car crash, I had an operation to remove the tumour. I very quickly had an appointment with the consultant surgeon who offered me a partial nephrectomy as the best treatment for me. The surgeon was very informative, confident and reassuring. On the day of the operation I was very nervous but was put at ease. The nurse that booked me in, the anaesthetist and the theatre staff were very reassuring. The operation was successfully performed without complications.
I was well informed of what was the best treatment for me every step of the way. I cannot thank the whole team especially my highly talented surgeon enough for the speed in which my tumour, which turned out to be cancerous was dealt with. The procedure was done robotically assisted by keyhole surgery and the wounds healed very well without any complications. Again the procedure was explained in full every step of the way. I was under the care of Clark ward for five days and during that time the doctors, nurses and staff were attentive, patient and compassionate.
