Fab birth experience, staff were lovely. Waters went at home before labour started, went into MLU to get checked out and had a sweep to try and get labour started. 3 hours later I was having contractions.
Laboured in the pool but ended up giving birth on the couch. As I was still pushing 24 hours after my waters went I was told I would have to be moved upstairs to the delivery suite to help me along, they were too busy though so could stay on MLU. Finally pushed our daughter out at 25 1/2 hours after my waters went.
Said we had to stay in overnight and would need to be moved to the maternity ward, again because they were busy we were allowed to stay on the MLU in our own room. Then I was offered to either stay overnight or said we could go at 10. 30pm once the 12 hour obs had finished, chose to go home. They even made a bed up for my husband on the couch so he could get some sleep.
Were left well alone apart from when they did 2 hourly obs on the baby. Open visiting on MLU for relatives. My relatives were shocked at how nice it was and even made comments that you couldn't expect a nicer room if we'd paid to go private. Definetly recommend and 100% be back when we have our next child!
