"Mental health team are absolutely diabolical!..."

About: Royal Derby Hospital / Emergency department

After visiting the emergency department in crisis several times I must say I have never ever experienced such poor care and compassion!

The liaison team that come to speak to you ( after a 6 hour plus wait) are not willing to listen.

The general nurses see mental health patients as a nuisance.. They made derogatory comments about patients. Is the emergency department somewhere really someone in mental health distress should have to wait around?

I also overheard a nurse talking at the nurses station to colleagues saying "be careful he has hiv" which is completely untrue and was challenged!

I do not understand what the liaison team actually do!

It's damn right dangerous! Would you treat someone with cancer in an undignified way? General nurses need more training in mental health and not to just see someone is distress as a nuisance!

I really feel something needs to change. I notice a lot of complaints regarding mental health services but no change,???

In 2017 I would expect better!

I'm ashamed to live in Derby with the nhs mental health services as they are!

I worry someone with less capacity than me will be let down.

I will be reporting my concerns to the CQC...

No wonder in the last report they were given inadequate in most areas! And this is allowed to happen?

I am going to make sure things change.
