"Why has Pet Therapy stopped?"

About: St Andrew's Healthcare Birmingham / Hawkesley

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

What's been happening with Pet Therapy? It's been stopped for a month. It's been stopped cos of money. We had snakes, chinchillas, ferrets, skunks, stick insects. We were told they are trying to get the nature centre involved, but we have heard nothing.

Thank you for your feedback. We haven't stopped Pet Therapy but we are reviewing how we use the services available to ensure that we get the best therapeutic outcomes for our patients.

Within the next week I have a meeting with Critterish Allsorts, and I have made contact with a national charity that provide PAT dogs to local services. We are also trying to forge links with local establishments, such as the Nature Centre to try to provide an varied offering in relation to animal therapy.
