"3 year old treated In pilgrim accident and emergency"

About: Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a parent/guardian),

I was absolutely thrilled with the care my 3 year old son received in pilgrim hospitals accident and emergency department last week. After a nasty fall he had a very deep cut on his forehead which I felt needed looking at by a doctor. He was very distressed when he arrived and straight away the lovely ladies on reception ran to get a dressing to hold on it and reassured him and me! Almost straight away we see a nurse in the children's part of the waiting room (still not sure how I feel about that, it's not very private) my sons oxygen sats etc were taken An the nurse straight away got my son some pain relief to make him more comfortable. We then sat and waited for the doctor who shouted us through within ten minutes. He too was very chatty and very quickly my son began to relax with him. The doctor said a. Nurse would be along just as soon as she had time to clean the cut and glue it back together, I thought we were in for a long wait and wouldn't have minded as I could see just how busy the department was! Within minutes the nurse arrived and did exactly what the doctor said she would do. She was like a breath of fresh air, my little boy loved her! the whole thing was done within a few minutes and we could go on our way. We did have to wait 50 minutes for a prescription of antibiotics (which is longer than the time we were actually in AnE! I really do wish we could have just taken it to Asda or somewhere, young children soon get fed up waiting like that! Overall I was very very happy with the service we received, my sons traumatic experience was made a much better one by the caring professionals who looked after him! Well done guys and thankyou so very much
