My mother was admitted to Liberton Hospital, Edinburgh, to wait for social care to be put in place.
We do not live in Edinburgh so could only visit weekly. We visited the day she was admitted, then again 5 days later. My mum was still in the filthy, dirty, clothes she was admitted in. Her toilet stuff was bone dry and unused and she smelt unwashed. No one had helped her wash and change in a week.
This continued for her stay. The only time her clothes were changed and she was washed was when we visited.
When she was discharged she supposed to go home with a zimmer and several other aids. Nothing went with her and despite continual phone calls, and promises to send on the equipment, nothing ever arrived.
I feel the care my mother received here was a disgrace. I'm reluctant to even call it care. We feel like she was left unattended and neglected.
