What I liked
I attended the SMTC for pre-assessment clinical tests for my total knee replacement. I was immediately impressed by the size of the facility. Unlike the monoliths available to patients in Bristol viz: Southmead and the BRI ( both of which have treated me in the last 5 years) this hospital is compact and therefore offers a much more personal patient care. No formal impersonal induction process to go through, as in large hospitals, but a friendly, one to one, treatment from receptionist through to consultant surgeon (who explained in detail what the problem is and what surgery is reqd.). My rejection came as a huge disappointment due to my sleep apnoae and there being no ITC unit at the hospital although I have recd. 2 general anaesthetics in the aforementioned larger Bristol hospitals with no problems. I presume that other patients run the risk of no back up treatment should complications arise during their operations. Anyway, I am grateful for giving me the oppurtunity to reply. Icing on the cake has to be free parking and to be able to park. By the way I am still searching for a comparable hospital.
What could be improved
Include ITC facilities in your new build.
