I was referred to A. R. I. by my G. P. for a hernia repair. After a short wait I was seen by the consultant surgeon who immediately put me at my ease, carried out a thorough examination, and then went over in detail the benefits and the risks involved in the operation. He advised me that I would be invited to attend a pre-assessment clinic and this took place earlier this week. Right on time I was called by the nurse Katie who started by introducing herself and for the first time ever asked me by which christian name I liked to be addressed. She went out of her way to put me at me ease and throughout the time I was with her was so impressed by her professional yet friendly manner and her attention to detail. To the extent that when I informed her I had a G. P. clinic next week which involved blood test she did her best to add any test she did not need but thought the practice nurse would require to save duplication. Katie then handed me on to Val and made sure she knew my preferred christian name. Val was as friendly and efficient and covered aspects of my treatment which complimented those covered by Katie. The whole process took one and a quarter hours and both nurses were a credit to the organisation.
"Both nurses were a credit to the organisation."
