"Cannot thank the hospital team enough for their excellent care."

About: Good Hope Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I went into hospital early hours of the morning as my waters had broken. It was my second child and things seemed to be going the same way as my first pregnancy so I hoped things would be a bit more straightforward this time round.

However, I ended up having to have an emergency c section as baby's heart rate kept dropping (the cord was round his neck). The staff were all so good. They explained what was happening every step of the way and reassured us.

We now have a beautiful, healthy baby and cannot thank the hospital team enough for their excellent care.

Dear Jtote

Thank you very much for posting your feedback about your patient experience in the Maternity Unit at Good Hope Hospital.

I'm sorry to learn that everything was not straight forward and it was required for you to have an emergency caesarean section due to the baby's heart rate dropping; that must have been an extremely anxious and worrying time for you. I'm so pleased to learn that your baby was born safely and is beautiful and healthy! My warm congratulations to you and your family on your little man's arrival, I'm sure your new baby and your older child are keeping you very busy (in the nicest way of course!)

I will be delighted to pass on your feedback to the Matron and Maternity Management Team at Good Hope Hospital who will ensure your lovely comments are highlighted to all of the team who work very hard to look after our expectant mummies and babies, and I hope my actions are acceptable.

Once again thank you for taking the time to post your comments, patient experience is very important to us.

Kindest regards

Marie Helebert
