"A&E"

About: Kent & Canterbury Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

Having expressed my gratitude to everyone on Kent Ward for my care before and after amputation, I was thinking back to the horrific pain in my upper thigh here at home at 6am, and after arrival at A&E around 8am in my thin pyjamas on the uncomfortable ambulance stretcher I lay until 11pm, after being told told me hours before that there was a bed available for me. After arrival on the Ward I was told by a nurse that it was true, so why the few minutes it took to get me there, did it take so long?

The relief of being unloaded from that stretcher into that comfortable bed was wonderful.

I am very sorry to understand you waited for 15 hours before you were transferred to a bed on the ward.

We would certainly look into this for you, as to why there was such a delay.

If you would contact PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) on 01227 783145 or 01227 864314 or by email at ekh-tr.PALS@nhs.net we will be able to give you details as to how you would be able to take this forward, if you wish to do so.

If you get the PALS answer phone, please leave a message as they will guarantee to return your call.
