I was taken into A&E after one in a recent series of overdosing. During the stay in the cubicle I was offered a visit by a mental health nurse to discuss the situation.
It was noted that I had opted into a referral to be seen by the nursing staff in due course. The nurse who spoke with me said that my referral will be looked at to see if there is any way of bringing forward the first appointment.
Now, whilst I make it quite clear here that I was not expecting miracles, I was at least expecting that promise to be kept, and any replies notified to me, even if in the negative.
What I am sure that most mental health nursing staff appreciate is that the effect of being 'ignored' which may be too strong a term in my case, exasperates whatever condition the need to see that department occurs!
I have been in touch with the SAPCMHT and no such enquiry on my behalf has been noted in their records.
I didn't know how best to have this investigated, and as my previous stories have been in the positive, I thought I would tell my story here, in the hope of some advice as to why my chat with the nurse came to no fruition? Thank you
