I have been a patient of Kings Rheumatology for the past 3 years. For 2 years I was under the care of an experienced clinician who was able to listen to my needs and offer continuity of care.
For the last year the service seems to me to be in a mess. I see a new temporary doctor every time, always running late, and I am given contradictory information about appropriate drug therapy each time. The service is clearly under considerable pressure and as a patient I feel my treatment is suffering. Waiting times between appointments are about 7 months- not helpful if you need to commence a new drug therapy.
The allied services such as physio / ultrasound departments have provided excellent care but I will be looking elsewhere for a rheumatology department who has some permanent staff for consistency in my care. This is a shame as prior to the restructure I received a consistent service.
