I have had kidney problems for several years and to cut a long story short I was recently referred for a scan which showed scarring and a cyst on my right kidney. For the past 3 weeks I have been in severe pain and prescribed several strong painkillers. Pain was so intense my own GP referred me to A&E where they looked after me for approx 4 hours by giving me morphine, a urologist then quickly reviewed me last night and said that there was no need for me to stay in hospital and that it did not seem an emergency and best to wait until I had my consultant appointment in 6 weeks time! ! !
Both my husband and I pleaded with them to do something as I could not cope with the pain at home so he prescribed another painkiller prescription but the pharmacy was closed at almost midnight. Therefore we left and next day returned to collect prescription at pharmacy to be told that it could not be accepted due to the form not being filled correctly. Bearing in mind I'm still in significant pain my husband then had to go back to A&E to get a doctor to look at this to then be told that they decided that I should not be given the prescription as it is a controlled substance and I've been on it long enough I should go back to my own GP next week! My own GP told me to go to hospital so what do to do now? I cannot wait 6 weeks to see a consultant for a first appointment. I hope to god nothing severe happens to me in this time as I will take this all the way I am so upset and disappointed by the lack of care I have been given. I just add however the nurses I dealt with yesterday could not have been more helpful.
