"Cutting finger with a hedge cutter"

About: York Hospital / Plastic surgery York Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I was cutting a hedge where unfortunately I slipped and my finger went into the hedge cutter blade, cutting tendons, nerves, bone and a fractured knuckle. I went into the York hospital A&E department where I was promptly seen by nurses and a surgeon (Mr Lim) during the next 24 hours I had surgery to my finger which all seemed to go smoothly and I was very impressed, after a few weeks of recovery I started physio therapy with (Karl) who talked me through everything and gave me a splint to support my finger and tendons. It has now been 6 weeks and the splint is off and I have full movement of my finger again thanks to the instructions of the physio and the work the surgeon did, I cannot thank them enough as I thought I would of been loosing my finger.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I will make sure that the A&E team, Mr Lim and your physiotherapist all receive a copy of your kind words. I am very glad to hear that the outcome has been so good.

With best wishes for safe gardening in the future.
