"Response tae post heart attack treatment"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Ayr / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Yesterday, I had chest pains for the first time since my first heart attack on the August 2015.

The response mail fae 999 ambulance control was brilliant, the crew, Brian and 'Irish' Ally was great. Almost immediately they were chapping the door!

The only 'down' side was the in between waiting in cubicle 3 for various medical examinations and observation, .

Being a full-time carer for my wife I was anxious to return home, so decided to ask to be taken home.

I rested at home and all was well, until the day! Woken by the call of nature 'alarm' I felt chest pains from right shoulder blade area through to top of right arm.

Called 111 for advice around 9am but at that time was redirected tae the GP surgery, they advised tae call an ambulance. John & Jim were the ambulance crew and the banter was there during examination and on the journey tae Ayr Hospital.

Treatment this time was a wee bit faster and more concise in my opinion, and I type this while waiting for the blood test results in a doctors room aside the A & E cubicles.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear rayfaetroon60,

I am sorry you have been unwell and the waiting during the first visit meant you felt you had to leave to care for your wife.

I am glad the ambulance crew kept you going, it makes such a difference when folk are chatty at times like that.

I do hope you got good results and all is well now (or the best it can be).

Thank you for sharing this with us, I will pass it on for the staff to reflect on.

Best wishes,

Eunice

Dear rayfaetroon60,

Thank you for sharing your story – this must have been a very frightening time for you.

I am pleased to hear your kind words about the staff from ambulance control and the operational crew who attended to you.

I am sorry to hear you had a repeat of the pains the next day but pleased that Ambulance staff were again able to provide you with the necessary care in a cheery fashion.

With best wishes for a speedy recovery,

Lindsay
