I attended the A&E walk in centre feeling very unwell hoping to see a Doctor but after waiting 2.5 hours I was advised by the Nurse who assessed me that as I was under the care of the Vascular team in Bristol I would have to go to the A&E there. I was staying away from home, had no transport and was on my own. I have a vascular condition and currently waiting for surgery but I had felt increasing pressure building up in the vein /artery in my neck, there was new swelling there and I felt really unwell. My blood pressure was very high and my arm was going white more than usual. The Nurse I saw was great and did their best to ask one of the A&E doctors to see me but they refused even after phoning them. I was told I had to go to Bristol A&E and that they couldn't help me. I don't think it was right that a doctor declined to send me and whilst the Nurse did phone Bristol it was 20.30pm and I was not well enough to travel via public transport at that time of night with no where to stay. I found the whole experience really upsetting and disappointing. I also work for the NHS and couldn't believe the lack of care I experienced.
