"Visitor toilets"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital / Accident and emergency

I visited a relative in Ward 8 today. As my husband & I had travelled for over an hour I needed the toilet. We did not pass any from the car park to the ward so I asked a member of staff who told me Level 5 were the nearest for visitors! I have never been in a hospital without visitor toilets on each floor. Visitors could not wash their hands as recommended by practitioners as it is meant to be more effective at killing germs than the foam stuff provided by the lift & doors to the ward.

Dear Zubee

I agree that there is poor provision of visitors toilets in the hospital, it was not built with adequate facilities. The new hospital which is currently being built will rectify this and in the meantime we encourage all visitors to use the hand foam, which is effective against most germs.

Best wishes
