"Disgraceful."

About: Watford General Hospital

My elderly mother who cannot walk and has dementia has twice sat is A&E in the last week for over 12 hours despite being brought in by ambulance on a doctors referral. She arrived in A&E last night at 9pm on what should have been a 1 hour response ambulance which was booked at 4.30pm.

In the end we had call 999 and get her taken in and this is the second time in a week this has happened.

Last Monday the ambulance was called at 1.30pm and at 8pm it had not turned up so mum arrived in A&E at 8pm after us having to load her into a van like a piece of rubbish and she didnt get a bed in AAU until 1.30am!

Disgusting treatment for a lady who is 80 and confused.

The next day she was discharged back home with no District Nurses in place and no medication to her home where she cannot walk or look after herself.

On ringing A&E this morning to find out how mum is, she is still in A&E since arriving there at 9pm last night - it is now 6.46am.

A very nice doctor has told me they are waiting to see if there is a bed or whether they send her home!

I will be complaining to the highest level today - its just not good enough and frankly very scarey that this is our NHS.
